“OBAKE” has been selected in the Competition of South Korea’s Jeonju International Film Festival. Other PFF films will also be screening at overseas festivals one after another!

Director Nakao Hiromichi’s "OBAKE," Grand-prize winner of the PFF Award 2019, has been officially invited to the 21st Jeonju International Film Festival (May 28-September 20). Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Jeonju postponed the festival’s original dates by one month. Physical screenings will be held from May 28th to June 6th exclusively for jury members and competition filmmakers. Certain films, including “OBAKE,” will be screened in theaters for public audiences from June 9th to September 20th.

Three other PFF films from 2019 have been invited to the 14th Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival (June 5-28): “When the Rain Stops” by Yamaguchi Yui, “The Wandering Plants” by Kaneko Yurina and “Lost Three Make One Found” by Kuwayama Atsushi.
Led by acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Johnnie To, the festival team presents a powerful statement: they are “resolute that the festival will take place whatever difficulties and obstacles” and will spotlight Mariko Tetsuya, who shares this “unflinching spirit”. His latest film “Miyamoto” will kick off the festival.
